Agreed. I do think a sense of desperation will help the Flyers be more proactive and win more of those battles. Once you win the battles, it's funny how the system becomes more beatable
Appears as though Devils will make a lineup change. Tim Sestito in for Ryan Carter who apparently is ill. Tim is the Flyers' Tom's brother
That has been a problem. But I think the Flyers' inability to get in on the forecheck has also ben a huge factor. Bill is mentioning that right now
Very easier said than done. Parise is a bulldog. Matt paused for a split second and Parise made him pay. That's what great players do
That goes back to that lack of desperation. If a team is desperate, their board play will be good. Effort and will win out along the boards
He has been a key all season and I agree he needs to step it up. He does appear hampered somewhat, but many players are banged up. I think HArtnell will be quite active tonight
He's been out for so long it is easy to forget how much he would have helped this time of year. But the Flyers knew they weren't going to have him so they can't use that as an excuse
That is a possibility. Sometimes when a team wants to show their desperation, they overcompensate and take penalties. However,Iwould rather see the passion and take the risk of a penalty or two
Steve Kozari and Kevin Pollack are your referees by the way
ok everyone.....Game 4 is over. Time for your questions and comments.....
A disappointment to say the least
A very good question. I cannot tell you how surprised I am at how the team came out in this game and then how they responded when the Devils poshed forward
I think it has to be considered because the reconfigured lines did not work. Getting outshot 43-22 would indicate that
To be honest, the Flyers are going to have to pick up their play in a BIG way to have any chance. After 2010, I have learned to never say never, but they are obviously in big trouble
the week off should have helped prevent that. I agree they look tired. However, I can't see how they are actually fatigued this early on in the playoffs with a week off in between rounds
From about the ten minute mark on in Game 1,they dominated the game. They may have been helped by the fact that the Devils were freshly removed froma double overtime Game 7 in Round One
The guy may have gone around him on a breakaway. Kimmo probably figured that late in the game, the ref would let it go. He was obviously wrong
I don't know f it's in their heads as much as it'sshocking the way the Devils dominated fromthe point the Flyers got that lead. They played the way I thought the Flyers were going to play. The Devils looked like the team that needed it more
I understand your frustration, but put yourself in their shoes. What are you going to say? Yes, they should answer with their actions, but when they don't, they still have to answer the reporter's questions afterward
His absence is felt immensely. Several defensemen are really struggling. From what Mez has been saying,he still seems a ways away. But with the team now facing elimination, he might push the envelope more. We shall see.
They need to be better all over the ice. Laviolette's system is about pursuing the puck. They just have not done enough of it in this series. When they have the puck, the Devils are not giving them much time to make plays. Thus, they need to simplify and get the puck in and go work to get it back
He should not risk further injury. You are absolutely right. and his impact on the series at this point would be difficult to gauge because he hasn'tplayed in solong. The Flyers do need some help on the blueline though. The Devils are exposing some of the defensemen on the forecheck
